Wordsmith Services is fronted by Jacky Thorne, who throughout her career has written everything and anything for people – to a word count, to a deadline and on most subjects. Fascinated by the way various platforms use language in different ways; she is able to write using a business’s tone of voice and keeping its target audience in mind.
A career that began with writing media releases and marketing copy for national arts projects, from independent theatre to choral and drama competitions, developed into writing successful funding applications and sponsorship proposals for Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, with PR and customer service skills honed along the way.
More recently she has created several training websites and courses (which she has on occasion presented) for the tourism and hospitality sector, as Visitor Experience Manager for the National Coastal Tourism Academy in Dorset.
Experiencing at first hand how a lack of time and resource in using language professionally can affect the success of small businesses, Jacky created Wordsmith Services to help make more impact in written communication, from website copy and social media to editing and proofing student dissertations. Good writing is a professional discipline, but does not come easily to everyone – Wordsmith is here to help.
